Our Mission
Welcome to Nrithya Samarpanam! We were established in 2012 to promote South Asian culture and educate our community about Indian Classical dance forms. We have performed at Natyanjalis, Guruvayoor Temple in Kerala, and several festivals + temples all over India and the United States. Our goal is to provide systematic and student-oriented training sessions and informative resources, both theory and performance through a series of engaging modules and video presentations.Nrithya Samarpanam collaborates with many dance academies in the country, and internationally. Our dance academy is affiliated with the Sanchari Kala Parishad in Karnataka.
GuruOur Guru, Smt. Gayathri Sudhakar is trained in Bharathanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniyattam for more than 15 years. She has been in the performing arts field for 25 years, and is the Artistic Director of our dance company. Initially, she received her training in the Kerala Kalamandalam Bani and later trained in the traditional Tanjore Bani. Her Gurus are Kalanilayalm Shri. S.S. Nair, Smt. Shobha S.Nair, Smt. Girija Venugopal, and Smt.Balamaniamma.
After completing her Master's and M.Phil in Chemistry, she worked as an Assistant Professor in Chennai. Her passion towards dance has driven her to wholeheartedly focus on the performing arts field. She is very involved in teaching new pieces and continues to delve into the vast world of dance by pursuing her Master's in Fine Arts (Classical Dance) under the guidance of Nadanamamani Sri. K. Krishnaraju. She learned the Nattuvangam from Shri. Madurai R. Muralidharan. Currently, she is developing the Introduction to Indian Classical Dance series, Arangam, which includes basic Natyashastra theory and adavu lessons. Our students are also a part of the Arangam Kids Series on our YouTube Channel, Nrithya Samarpanam. |
